
What you see here is the Orion project Falcon in disguise. Expect to see more pictures like these.
The cars have been photographed as far afield as central Australia and even Detroit (more here), but now they're part of the traffic morass on urban roads around Fortress Campbellfield.
Our eagle-eyed readers Paul Tivendale and Paul Gatt were quick enough off the mark to catch the cars on camera phone as they scooted up the Hume.
Important points to note are the heavy cladding around the rear roof section and windows, plus the mesh inserts for the grille and lower duct in the front airdam.
What is interesting too, is the sculpture line, which from 3/4 rear view is similar to the styling cue adopted by Mercedes-Benz in vehicles such as the CLS.
Viewing the car from an oblique rear angle gives the observer a real sense of the car's 'wedginess', with the rear door handles placed distinctly higher on the body than the front door handles.
Despite being built with the same hardpoints as the current Falcon, it's plainly going to be a radical styling departure and it looks like the leaked images first published a couple of months ago (more here) are pretty much on the mark.
