Outback-ready LDV T60 Off Road confirmed for Oz
LDV confirms off-road focussed T60 ute is set for production, and for Australian showroomsChinese brand LDV has this week revealed details of its mainstream T60 light commercial utility range for Australia, the budget-busting dual-cab range to commence local sales from October 1.
But perhaps of even greater interest to Aussie buyers is that the T60 Off Road Concept – previewed at the Shanghai motor show in April and pictured here – has received the production green-light and will become a mainstay of Australian LDV showrooms.
“We will launch it to the Chinese market first, by the end of this year,” confirmed Mr Lan Qingsong, SAIC Motor Vice President. “We will (then) review and discuss with Ateco for the Australian market, to see if there are any further requirements or standards required by policy, before it goes on sale.”
The concept T60 shows a number of off-road focussed accessories, including heavy-duty front and rear bumpers, additional underbody protection, raised suspension, wheel arch flares, off-road tyres, a winch, additional lighting and a snorkel. There’s also additional bracing in the engine compartment, and in the tray.
At this stage it’s unclear which of the accessories shown will feature on the production T60 Off Road, and which will meet Australian regulatory approval. There’s also no indication yet on a likely price, though we expect The LDV T60 Off Road will be dearer than the high-grade T60 LUXE, which retails from $32,990 (drive-away price for ABN holders).
