Pagani Huayra BC Roadster teased

Lighter, faster, hard-core, track-focused Huayra BC loses its roof and gets a lot more power

A hard-core Pagani Huayra BC Roadster is expected to be revealed at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 18 after this darkened teaser image was released by the Italian supercar-maker over the weekend.

The image, released on Facebook and Instagram, shows a car under a cover that clearly shows a Huayra's silhouette accompanied by the hashtags #huayra and #roadsterbc.

Like the extreme Huayra BC coupe, the roadster version is expected to have a tweaked aerodynamic package that will result in a car with a completely unique body.

The new air-bending bodywork will work in unison with the car's existing active spoilers to cut lift, reduce drag and boost downforce without sacrificing engine or brake cooling.

Set to weigh in at less than 1300kg, the Roadster BC has also undergone significant weight loss that includes the introduction of a new titanium exhaust system.

Under the rear boot lid, the standard car's Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbo 6.0-litre V12 carries over, with the Roadster BC expected to produce the same 588kW/1000Nm – up from the 66kW/100Nm from the standard car.

Combined with a quicker-shifting seven-speed automated manual, the drop-top BC should hit 100km/h in less than three seconds.

Like the coupe, the roadster is set to benefit from the BC's new traction-boosting electronic active differential.

To help maintain control and improve handling, the BC Roadster should share the coupe's suspension, which is the lightest set-up on any road-going performance car.

The weight-saving extends to the brakes, wheels and even tyres. There are lighter Brembo callipers for the carbon-ceramic discs, bespoke Pirelli tyres that weigh three per cent less and new forged 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rears.

Inside, expect a stripped-out interior that shaves yet more grams from the kerb weight.

More details are expected following the build-up to the full reveal of the Huayra BC Roadster next month.
