Pagani has announced its Huayra BC will compete in the 2016 World Time Attack this October 15/16.
Driven by racing driver, and drifting legend, Keiichi "Drift King" Tsuchiya the fastest-ever Huayra will not compete directly against other racers.
Instead, the Pagani BC driven by Tsuchiya will drive flat-out laps in the 'Midday Mayhem' sessions held on both the Friday and Saturday.
It's not known whether these sessions will be timed.
In any case, with a former Le Mans racer behind the wheel, the Huayra should still prove one of the fastest vehicles of the weekend.
Weighing just 1218kg and powered by a mighty 588kW/1000Nm twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 that's supplied by Mercedes-AMG, it will be the first chance for many to see a Pagani in the flesh.
Its speed is unlikely to disappoint. The Italian car maker hasn't released performance figures for the hardcore Huayra variant, but a 0-100km/h time of less than 3.0 seconds is likely, especially when you consider the Italian hypercar has both a faster-shifting seven-speed automated manual and a new five-stage traction control system that was shown testing recently at the Arctic Circle.
Also helping the Huayra find time around Motorsport Park is a completely revised aero package that maximises downforce but can reduce drag, thanks to a new active system.
Costing in the region of $3 million, for each of the 20 cars Pagani plans to make, the pressure will well and truly be on the Drift King's shoulders to not stuff it into the barriers in front of the thousands of Time Attack fans expected to attend the event.
