Pagani to reveal Huayra Roadster this weekend

Droptop version of Italian hypercar to be unveiled at VIP event in California

Pagani has announced that it will pull the drapes off a new droptop version of its Huayra hypercar on Sunday at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance that’s held in Monterey, California.

As well as revealing the Huayra Roadster at an exclusive VIP event, according to US car blog Autoblog, the Italian car maker will release early images of the new car “some days before” its public debut.

Set to be made in a limited run of just 100 cars, the new Roadster will come equipped with the 522kW/900Nm Mercedes-AMG-sourced 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 and the firm’s seven-speed single-clutch automated manual.

The Roadster is almost certain to feature a removable targa panel.

Thanks to its ultra-stiff carbon-fibre monocoque construction, the Roadster will have little need for extra bracing and is thought to weigh in almost the same as the coupe.

This means the convertible coupe should be almost as quick as the coupe and reach 100km/h in around 3.0 seconds.

Recently, Pagani revealed its most extreme version of its hypercar yet, the Huayra BC.

Named after friend of the car-maker Benny Caiola, the BC came with a complete new body, revised aero and a lightweight construction. The BC also comes with more power, 588kW/1000Nm to be exact.

More pictures and information on the Roadster are expected following its reveal in the next couple of days.
