If you're on the Nullabor this weekend and see a four-door Porsche relax -- you're not hallucinating. You'll have spotted the very first Panameras to arrive Down Under.
Porsche Australia airfreighted the brand-new four-doors to Oz last month ahead of the model's official onsale on October 3. And to celebrate the arrival of the brand's first true four-door, four-seater GT, the burghers at Porsche Australia have today set off from Melbourne on a 17,000km, 33-day lap of Australia -- "the ultimate grand tour for its ultimate gran turismo"...
Along the way the Panamera S and Panamera Turbo will traverse sections of route taken by the very first Porsche imported into Australia. A 356 Coupe, the first Aussie Porsche was showcased to the Australian public under competition conditions in the 1953 Redex Trial. And yes, it finished! Well up the order...
The Panamera Right Round Down Under route is a clockwise lap of the country. The Carsales Network will participate by driving the 2433km three-leg segment from South Australia's Barossa Valley across the Nullabor to Esperance on the southeast coats of Western Australia (okay smarties, WA does have a southeast coast -- we checked).
Read our blog updates (these will be updated Friday, Sep 4 - Wednesday, Sep 9) or log on to Porsche's own minisite -- rightrounddownunder.com -- for details of the whole trip.
In the meantime you can read our launch coverage of the Porsche Panamera here.
