Audi has taken the wraps of its revised R8 at the Paris Motor Show. The updated model was spied testing at the Nurburgring this year, and arrives at the show with the same LED headlamps and dynamic tail lamps spotted on the test model. A new single-frame grille features beveled corners and is finished in high-gloss black with chrome horizontal details. An optional carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) front splitter is also available in the R8’s new-look front bumper.
V8-powered models arrive standard with a six-speed manual transmission, which is available optionally on those models fitted with the range-topping V10. As standard, the ten-cylinder variant arrives with Audi’s new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (with launch control) which is optional on the V8. Confused yet?
The V10 Plus also receives a power upgrade to now output a total of 410kW/540Nm, shaving 0.3 seconds from the previous model’s 0-100km/h time, now just 3.5 seconds. Top speed is listed at 317km/h. Thankfully, carbon ceramic disc brakes are standard.
Otherwise, the differences in the new model are subtle with alloy wheels -- 18-inch on the V8 and 19 for the V10 -- undergoing a mild rework, more leather featured inside the cabin and new look shift paddles and instrument cluster appearing across the three-strong range.
The new R8 will go on sale in Europe from early in 2013. There’s no word yet on local timing.
