Lexus has released a second teaser image of its UX concept, which will be the second show car to preview an all-new compact SUV that will slot below its mid-size NX crossover.
Set to make its world debut at next week's Paris motor show, the Lexus UX Concept is described as a "vision for a compact SUV of the future" and "a new step in the company's design journey and a redefinition of the driving experience".
This single interior image, which follows an earlier rear three-quarter image of the car, shows a totally redesigned driver interface that presents a three-dimensional appearance and a high level of connectivity.
"The bold UX Concept design embodies imaginative and forward-thinking technologies to provide occupants with a fully immersive experience," said Lexus. "All on-board HMI technology has been designed to offer progressive customers who live and work in an ever-connected environment an innovative, three-dimensional driver experience."
At the heart of the driver's instrument binnacle is a transparent globe that's designed to float in the manner of a hologram, presenting a combination of analogue and digital information.
Meantime in centre console is a prominent, facetted crystal structure within which a hologram-style display of climate-control and infotainment systems is visible to both driver and front passenger.
Lexus says other in-car electrical technologies include electro-chromatic windows and side mirrors replaced by 'e-mirror' camera housings that are said to be far slimmer than conventional mirror housing. All switchgear is electrostatic and housed under transparent covers.
And in what Lexus claims will "provide a new audio experience for the next-generation Lexus customer", the fin-style speaker in the A-pillars is repeated on the passer's side of the dashboard to create an in-built removable sound bar.
“Our brief was to create a new genre of compact crossover; a vehicle that could create something unique from a customer’s point of view -- an innovative, three-dimensional, fully immersive user experience," said Stephan Rasmussen, designer at European Design Centre, ED2.
It remains unknown how many of these technologies and designs will appear in the production version of Lexus' first compact SUV, which is expected to replace the slow-selling CT200h small hatch and was first previewed by the LF-SA concept at last year's Geneva show.
