Lamborghini refuses to let the most successful car in its history go quietly, revealing a final facelift for the mainstream Gallardo and an edgier focus for its stripped-out, lightweight sprinter at the Paris show.
Available from November, the new LP 560-4 adopts the edgy, triangular front air intakes that define the V12 Aventador, and a more heavily-creased rear end.
While it receives no additional power, torque or grip, Lamborghini claims the Gallardo’s third in-series upgrade, which includes new 19-inch alloy wheels, brings the supercar in line with the new family “look”.
At the rear, it retains the positioning of its four exhaust pipes, but Lamborghini claims the addition of the trapezoidal and triangular rear bumper components has added to the thermal efficiency of the LP 560-4 by allowing engine bay heat to escape more easily.
But if it’s a faster Lamborghini you’re wanting (and, let’s face it, people don’t buy them for the stereos or the ride quality), then the marque has pushed the envelope even further at the very top of the range.
The German-owned Italian supercar maker has taken the hardcore Performante spyder and Superleggera coupe and made them even more extreme, in the form of the LP 570-4 Edizione Tecnica.
With its power-to-weight ratio shrunk to 2.35 kilos per kilowatt, the Edizione Tecnica now includes standard carbon-ceramic brakes and a large, fixed carbon-fibre rear wing.
