Polestar has confirmed it will unleash an all-new concept for a wild all-electric supercar that would show how the Sino-Swedish EV brand might take the fight up to Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Confirming that a Polestar supercar concept is on the way, chief designer Maximillian Missoni admitted that instead of being produced by his team, the latest concept will be the work of the brand’s growing fanbase on its Polestar Design Community Instagram page.
This year, followers of the design-obsessed page were tasked by the Volvo-owned car-maker to design a car around a performance theme, triggering a raft of outlandish supercars.
Submitting designs using the hashtag #polestardesigncontest2022, Missoni said the winning design will be then further developed by his design team.
It’s not known if that will involve the building of an actual full-size clay model.
“It’s quite interesting. It’s been created by our designers. It’s not a PR situation. It’s like the guys were like, ‘Oh, we should do this’ and they created this community and it has 45,000 members at the moment and they are all enthusiasts for the brand,” he said.
Once produced, it's thought the winning concept car created by the brand’s fanbase could help inspire more exciting future Polestar models that one day might even include a wild supercar.
