Icona has confirmed it will reveal a close-to-production hypercar based on the Vulcano concept it revealed at the 2013 Shanghai motor show.
Originally, the concept was powered by a mighty near 700kW petrol V12 hybrid, but now the fledgling Chinese car-maker has announced the production car will come with a 500kW 6.2-litre supercharged V8 from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
Even with the less powerful engine the Icona will still be capable of truly breathtaking performance, with the Vulcano taking just 2.8 seconds to reach 100km/h before topping out at 354km/h, says Icona.
Based on what’s believed to be a carbon-fibre monocoque, the Volcano has a body made of titanium but all will be revealed this Sunday when the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance kicks off.
