Pebble Beach: McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept unveiled

McLaren has announced it will reveal a concept based on its 570GT at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance classic car festival.

Called the McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept, the new creation from McLaren Special Operations (MSO) is said to preview a number of future options that will soon be available on the current 570GT.

These include a new titanium sports exhaust that’s claimed to weigh 30 per cent less than the standard stainless steel item and delivers a "richer and more characterful tone". Finished in a gold tint, the system's heat shields will naturally change colour to a blue-purple finish after heat cycles, says the car-maker.

Externally, the 570GT is painted in a new pearl white finish that's combined with MSO's Piano Black gloss that is applied by MSO to the wheels, side skirts, front and rear doors and reflected inside, with similar gloss black highlights.

Biggest change introduced by the new concept is a new auto-tint feature for the standard-fit glass roof that sandwiches a UV protective interlayer and a elctro-chromatic material between the glass roof.

To darken the roof MSO says the new panel will be touch-sensitive and can be adjusted from clear to a dark tint adding extra protection from the sun in hot countries.

Another new option is a new 12-speaker premium sound system and exterior carbon-fibre treatment that adds a full-length carbon-fibre sill, among others.

No changes have been made under the skin by McLaren and the 570GT By MSO comes equipped with the standard 419kW/600Nm 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that, thanks to a kerb weight of 1350kg (dry), helps the smallest Sports Series Macca to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds, 200km/h in 9.8 sec and gives the 570GT a top speed of 328km/h.

Pricing for the new options -- which are all available now, save the auto-tint roof that's still in development -- have not been revealed.

The 570GT, without any MSO additions, costs $406,800 plus on-road costs.
