No, not to get Chaz Mostert’s car rebuilt for this weekend’s Gold Coast 600 after his bone-crunching Bathurst shunt – but to get a very special and very timely video produced to celebrate October 21…
Today is Back to the Future Day – the day Marty McFly went forward to in Back to the Future II.
According to IMDB: “After visiting [October 21, 2015], Marty McFly must repeat his visit to 1955 to prevent disastrous changes to 1985... without interfering with his first trip.”
The Prodrive effort leverages part of an elaborate PepsiCo promotion, including special bottles and logos. Prodrive's efforts include a specially modified car, new livery and a celebratory video.
Most importantly, for PRA fans and V8 Supercar watchers generally, it confirms drivers Mark Winterbottom and Chaz Mostert aren’t about to give up their track-based jobs for a career in acting.
Don’t know about team boss Tim Edwards though. There’s some Doc-like talent there…
Perhaps the conspiracy theorists will put two and two together and decide the whole thing is an elaborate plot to attract a new manufacturer to the team… Perhaps one that has actually built a hoverboard! Hmmm…
It’s all a laugh and a bit of fun – and a measure of how far the teams are all going to keep their fans (and sponsors!) engaged. We especially like how they aged ‘Chaz’. Wait for it…
