Audi has announced 'performance' model variants of the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback, boasting increased power, higher torque and a faster 0-100km/h time.
The RS6 Avant performance and the RS 7 performance variants produce 445kW (up from 412) and 750Nm – a 50Nm boost – for a 0-100km/h time of 3.7 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds better than before. Despite that, fuel consumption for the turbocharged and direct-injected 4.0-litre V8 is unchanged, Audi claims, at around 9.5L/100km (depending on specification). The torque hits its peak with an overboost function and added boost pressure and higher revs have resulted in the raised power peak.
Standard wheels for the performance models are 21-inch cast alloy wheels, fitted with 285/30 tyres (RS 6 Avant) or 275/30 tyres (RS 7 Sportback). Cosmetic features to set the performance models apart from the standard variants comprise revised bumpers with larger intakes, a new profile for the rear diffuser insert, gloss black honeycomb grille, matt titanium finish for select add-on parts, and flared side sills. A quattro logo appears on the lower engine-cooling air duct. Introduced with the performance models is a new (metallic) colour, Ascari Blue.
Set for production next month, the RS 6 Avant performance and the RS 7 Sportback performance are due in Australia during the second quarter of next year. Prices and full specifications for Australia will be revealed at that time.
