It has taken years, but Proton has finally got around to developing a uniquely Malaysian design for the Persona small car.
Bearing the modern styling cues of the Gen.2 and the latest Satria, the Persona also benefits from the Gen.2's 'Campro' 1.6-litre engine. Under the skin, the Persona is mechanically a derivation of the Gen.2, but with a sedan body instead of the Gen.2's hatchback style.
Three levels of trim will be on offer when the production model is released to the Australian public around March next year. All variants will be available with a standard five-speed manual transmission or an automatic option.
The colour range for the new Persona consists of Blueberry tea, Light gold, Tranquillity black, Metal grey and Solid red. An additional colour option, Solid White, will be introduced from September 2008. The exterior colours coordinate with a dark grey interior colour.
