The car that helped launch Peter Brock’s illustrious motorsport career is now up for sale.
Taking him to third place on debut, the 1969 HT Holden Monaro GTS 350 was the King of The Mountain’s first entry into the Bathurst 1000 – an event he went on to win nine times.
The prized Monaro GTS has been on display at the Peter Brock Experience on the Gold Coast since it was restored in the mid-2000s.
Up for sale via online auction site GraysOnline, the Holden Dealer Team Monaro is expected to sell for more than $500,000. It will come with full documentation, including the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) logbook.
Bidding will begin at 4:30pm AEST today (Friday, September 20), with the final offer taken at 8:35pm AEST the following Wednesday (September 25).
GraysOnline chief executive Chris Corbin said the car is a genuine piece of Australian auto sports classic memorabilia.
“We expect a lot of interest from collectors and motorsport enthusiasts alike,” he said.
Other Brock cars sold more recently have attracted plenty of attention, including the Holden Commodore in which he won the 1982 and 1983 Bathurst 1000, which sold for $2.1 million.
