The latest addition to the Peugeot 207 Touring wagon range has been launched in Australia. Named the 207 Touring Outdoor, the limited edition model is priced from $30,490 (not including government or delivery charges) for the entry-level variant powered by the 1.6-litre 88kW/160Nm engine and paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. There's an optional variant with the 80kW/240Nm turbodiesel engine, which adds another $1000 to the price tag.
The French importer hopes the new model will appeal to active and adventurous drivers who may not have previously considered Peugeots. Limited to just 150 units, the Outdoor remains a compact wagon, but with an overtly rugged appearance, as evidenced in the vehicle's raised ride height, black wheel arches and bumper extensions.
Sitting on 16-inch alloy wheels, the limited edition model comes with "greatly improved standard specification over its predecessor while adding a tough new look" says Peugeot. Raised by 16mm at the front and 21mm at the rear and shod with 205/55 tyres, the wagon provides drivers more scope to get off the beaten track.
The features list for the new model has been boosted to include things like dual-zone climate control, cruise control with speed limiter and leather-cloth combination sports seats -- on top of standard items like auto headlights and wipers, polished aluminium roof rails, six airbags and a panoramic glass roof with electric sunblind.
Despite being a compact wagon, the carpeted boot has a decent sized 438 litre boot. With 60/40 flat folding rear seats, the rear cargo area can be expanded to 1433 litres. The rear tailgate also has a separately opening window, operated via a button on the remote control.
