Peugeot 308 goes drive-away

French brand throws in on-road costs permanently for base 308 Access

Peugeot Australia has slashed the price of its entry-level 308 by announcing a permanent drive-away price of $21,990 for the base Access manual – the same as its previous recommended retail price.

Buyers of the six-speed automatic version are also offered discounted government and statutory charges, with an on-road price of $24,690 – down from the previous $23,990 RRP.

Peugeot says the base 308 price cut – which has no effect on the car's five-year capped-price servicing, three-year roadside assist or three-year/100,000km warranty programs, is designed to continue the model's 200 per cent sales spike so far this year, which has helped the French brand to a 16.3 per cent overall sales increase.

"The Peugeot 308 has won accolades world-over and the move to drive-away pricing adds significant appeal to the package," said Peugeot Australia general manager John Startari.

"The new price structure represents one of the best offers in the marketplace and we are certain that it will result in more Peugeots finding a home in Australian driveways."

There are no changes to the award-winning 308's standard specifications, including a 96kW/230Nm turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine, which continues to consume just 4.6L/100km (manual), plus six airbags, cruise control with speed-limiter, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, cooled glove box, daytime running lamps and automatic headlights with follow-me-home function.
