Peugeot Citroen Australia has increased prices across every model line by as much as six per cent, equating to an increase of up to $4800 depending on the variant.
Citing “the challenges being experienced currently across the global automotive industry”, the company behind the Peugeot and Citroen brands in Australia, independent distributor Inchcape, says the company is “committed to supporting customers as we navigate the current environment, with any local market pricing adjustments carefully considered with alternative options explored in detail”.
For Peugeot, pricing of all models apart from the Premium variants of the Peugeot Partner and Peugeot Expert commercial vehicles have risen by six per cent as of today, with the top-spec vans being subject to a marginally better 5.6 per cent increase.
It’s a similar story over in the Citroen portfolio where the Citroen C3 and Citroen C5 have increased by an even six per cent too, while the Citroen C4 gets away with a 2.6 per cent rise.
As seen across many car-makers this year, the costs of raw materials, shipping and logistics have skyrocketed while component shortages have hampered production output.
This is the second time Peugeot has lifted prices across its range this year, having also taken action in January.
On a more positive note, the company has advised that customer waiting times are relatively short for both Peugeot and Citroen cars, with buyers only facing "a couple of months' wait for their vehicle if their specific order varies from available stock in Australia or is in transit".
