Peugeot axes SUV prices

Save up to $7000 as Peugeot cuts the prices of its 4007 and 4008 crossovers

Peugeot has sliced as much as $7000 from the price of its 4007 mid-size SUV and $6000 off the 4008 small SUV.

Previously priced at $43,690 plus on-road costs, the flagship 4007 SV diesel auto seven-seater can now be had for $39,990 drive-away, representing a saving of more than $7000.

The all-diesel Mitsubishi Outlander-based 4007 line-up continues to open at $34,990 plus on-road costs for the five-seat ST manual), while the mid-range 4007 ST seven-seat auto still costs $38,690 plus ORCs.

Despite the price cuts, which follow a 56 per cent sales slump so far this year and a procession of new entries in the booming medium SUV segment, the 4007 SV also gains a host of extra standard equipment.

This includes 18-inch alloy wheels and metallic paint (previously a $1300 option, while the (115kW/380Nm 2.3-litre turbo-diesel engine, seven seats, leather trim, heated front seats, power driver’s seat and xenon headlights remain standard.

All 4008s also continue to come standard with a reversing camera, seven airbags, LED running lights, rear privacy glass, air-conditioned glovebox and voice-activated Bluetooth connectivity.

Meantime, the petrol-only Mitsubishi ASX-based 4008 range continues to include the entry-level Active 2WD manual ($28,990 plus ORCs), the mid-range Active AWD manual ($30,990) and the top-shelf Allure AWD auto ($38,490 plus ORCs).

However, the volume-selling Active 2WD auto is now available for $29,990 drive-away, making it cheaper than the base Active 2WD manual and saving customers more than $6000.

It is the first time the Active 2WD auto has been available for less than $30,000 since the 4008 went on sale in Australia last year, and Peugeot says the both cut-price offers are available only while stocks last.

“In 2012 Peugeot was the fastest growing SUV brand in the country with a 121 per cent increase in sales year-on-year,” said Peugeot Automobiles Australia General Manager/ Director Bill Gillespie.

“To maintain this momentum we are offering great deals on both the 4007 and 4008 for a limited time. The SUV segment is a highly competitive market and we think at these prices both the 4007 and 4008 offer exceptional value to customers.”
