Peugeot 'green', range wide

Customers sizing-up a new Peugeot car can be sure it meets the latest emissions requirements. The brand already boasts 10 models in its local lineup with sub-135g/km CO2 ratings; from the 207 hatchback up to the new 4007 softroader.

The steady roll-out of Euro 5-compliant models means Peugeot "will be ahead of Australian new vehicle emission targets for 2015 of 190 grams of CO2 per kilometre."

"For some time now we have been aware, as has the rest of the motor industry, that emissions are a growing concern to motorists both here and worldwide," says Ken Thomas, Director of Peugeot Australia, "which is why all passenger and SUV vehicles in our range will have transitioned from Euro 4 to Euro 5 standards by the end of this year.

"Indeed, a high proportion of our current model range is already available for sale with this advanced technology."

The upcoming RCZ coupe sporty will also be offered with Euro 5 engine options.

Spokesmen for the brand promised the entire passenger car lineup would be Euro 5-compliant by the end of this year, back at the coupe's international launch in May. In fact, Peugeot started rolling out Euro 5 offerings in 2009.

Peugeot's commercial range will also be Euro 5 proof.

"Partner van in petrol form has been Euro 5 since July production, and the diesel Partner will be compliant from March '11 production," Peugeot Australia's marketing manager, Richard Grant told the Carsales Network.

The diesel-only Expert van will meet Euro 5 regulations from June production next year, he said.

Peugeot intends offering the upcoming 508 with Euro 5-compliant engine options and stop-start function for its diesel models.
