Peugeot is gearing up to debut what it’s touting as one of its most important concept vehicles in recent memory – the Peugeot Inception Concept – at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, and has now released a series of cryptic teasers to build the hype.
The Inception concept has been coming for a while now, having first been announced but not previewed back in October, when the French car-maker said it would provide a glimpse of Peugeot’s future design direction.
“The Peugeot Inception Concept will showcase how the Lion brand takes advantage of the next generation of electric-native platforms to re-invent the whole automobile experience,” said Peugeot earlier in the year.
“Peugeot is profoundly re-designing the interior space, re-shaping driving gestures around the next generation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit and creating new digital and physical experiences.”
Well we now have our first taste teasers of the futuristic concept three weeks out from its reveal, however, they don’t exactly give much away.
Straight lines, sharp angles and elaborate lighting signatures look to be the fundamental design cues, along with what seems to be a Jaguar-style fixed bonnet emblem – albeit a lion.
Designers have been equally cryptic in their preliminary descriptions of the concept, claiming it to debut a “new formal language that exalts its feline and attractive attitude”.
“Its revolutionary interior design and its promise of unprecedented driving sensations, the Peugeot Inception Concept opens a new era based on the brand values, Allure, Emotion and Excellence,” they said.
Some overseas media outlets are tipping the Inception to be an evolution of the 2018 Peugeot E-Legend electric concept, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it actually debuts as more of a crossover or SUV given the popularity and ever-increasing demand for higher-riding models.
Whatever the futuristic Peugeot concept ends up looking like, you can bet the Inception will be underpinned by Stellantis’ bespoke STLA EV architecture.
