Peugeot has released a new picture tease of what's claimed by some to be a sportier, more aggressive version of the upcoming new 3008 SUV.
The image, tweeted by Peugeot overnight, has been heralded as potentially a preview to a new GTi version of the 3008 that will be reborn as an SUV.
Building the hype that it might be a GTi, on the French car-maker’s Facebook page the caption accompanying the image said “You were not expecting it, yet it is waiting for you”.
If so, the 3008 GTi is expected to come with the same 200kW 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Peugeot 308 GTi.
If it eventuates, the 3008 GTI is expected to be front-wheel drive and fitted with a limited-slip differential.
More teases are expected in the next few weeks.
Set to be unveiled at the Paris motor show this September, first deliveries of the new 3008 begin in Europe early in 2017, with Australian sales to commence later next year.
