Peugeot SUV before Christmas
Peugeot's 4007 SUV, based on the Mitsubishi Outlander, will arrive in NovemberThe highly anticipated RCZ has been greenlit for 2010 (more here), but Peugeot also plans to release a number of other new models in Australia in the next 12 months, including an SUV.
After the 'Series II' updates for the 207 compact car in late September / early October, Peugeot will launch the 4007 HDi in November 2009. Based on the Mitsubishi Outlander, the 4007 is built in Japan and features a Peugeot-supplied 2.2-litre diesel engine that cranks out 380Nm and 115kW.
Peugeot Australia is keen to bring the 4007 to Australia, as it will provide the French brand with a much-needed SUV model, one that will rival Renault's Koleos.
Peugeot's local operation expects to price the car from around $40K. "We think that's competitive," says Peugeot Australia's GM, Ken Thomas.
Though only the diesel will be offered initially, two gearboxes will be available (a five-speed manual or a six-speed auto) and there was also talk of a glass roof being included as standard equipment.
