Pilot build

Honda has launched its latest SUV into the US market

Australians haven't been able to purchase an American-built Honda SUV with V6 power since the MDX turned up DOA.

Honda in the US has launched the latest Pilot SUV as of last week -- complete with 3.5-litre V6 featuring the VCM system introduced here in the new Accord. The V6 drives through a five-speed automatic transmission and traction is handled by the car's variable torque management system.

Pictures here were supplied by the mercenary spy photographers at Carparazzi. According to the penny-pinchers there, they were motivated to snap some pics just a week ahead of the car's formal media launch when a website (Jalopnik.com), challenged readers to obtain quality pictures of the new vehicle ahead of its release.

The guys at Jalopnik have since driven the car and give it the thumbs up, not least of all for its eight-seat capacity and the ability to cart plywood sheets with the seats folded flat. What is it about Americans and their love of transporting plywood in passenger vehicles?
