Pininfarina gives new glimpse of 400km/h PFO hypercar
Pure-electric Bugatti Chiron rival to hit 100km/h in less than two seconds and top out at 402km/hPininfarina has released two new sketches of its forthcoming hypercar that will mark the transition of the famous supercar stylist to a car-maker in its own right.
At the same time, the Italian design house has confirmed its all-electric hypercar, which is set to feature design highlights previewed by the H2 concept at the 2016 Geneva motor show, will be on sale by 2020 and will be named the PF0.
The pics released late last night were accompanied by early technical details from the new car-maker, which will be renamed Automobili Pininfarina.
According to the Italian firm, the PF0 will be capable of hitting 100km/h from standstill in less than two seconds and reach 300km/h in an incredible 12 seconds.
Top speed, meanwhile, will be pegged at an astonishing 402km/h, says Pininfarina.
It also claims that -- despite its phenomenal performance -- the FP0's driving range will be a very reasonable 500km between charges.
Co-developed in partnership with Croatian electric car maker, Rimac, the wild pure-electric rival for the Bugatti Chiron will harness Formula E technology developed by its parent company Mahindra following its participation in the pure-electric motorsport.
When it arrives in 2020, the PF0 is likely to come accompanied by a seven-figure price tag, but after its halo Bugatti-beater goes on sale, Pininfarina says it will launch not one but three SUVs.
It claims each of the SUVs will be the fastest in their respective classes and that all four Pininfarina models, including the hypercar, will be based on an advanced pure-electric platform developed by Rimac.
