F1 tyre supplier Pirelli has launched a new app for Apple iPad, called PZero, designed to enhance the experience of watching Formula One by becoming a "second screen".
The free application gives F1 fans more information when watching races live, by aggregating all the latest global online news from websites, newspapers, blogs, magazines, Twitter and Facebook to provide a more detailed view of the race, the season, the drivers, the teams and of course the intrigue that goes along with it.
The Italian-developed app also features customisation options for the interface, plus exclusive content and even race data with various graphical info concerning pre and post race data such as lap times, pit stops, interviews and so on.
The idea behind the app is to give enthusiasts detailed information inside and outside the paddock, and Pirelli touts the new PZero tablet software as the "very first second screen app dedicated to motorsport"
As "Formula One's first 2.0 app" the program is also designed to integrate various social media integration such as Twitter and Facebook. However at the time of writing the only feedback on the new app was by Jose Fernando de Freitas, who commented that the app "crashes and never recovers" whenever attempting to connect with his Twitter account. The App can be downloaded from the App store.
