A Ferrari 458 Spider confiscated from the mafia has been converted by the police force in Milan, Italy and is now a working patrol car.
The 458 Spider was seized back in September 2015 from an unnamed local organised crime syndicate and sat unused until the courts, using powerful anti-mafia legislation, assigned the droptop Ferrari to the constabulary.
Now, according to police commander Antonio Barbato, the 458 will become an educational tool for young people and will visit local communities to send the message that, in the end, crime doesn't pay.
In recent history confiscating cars from the mafia has been a powerful PR tool for the Italian police force. Italian newspaper Lastampa.it claims this latest 458 Spider is one of an incredible 30 confiscated Ferraris and, in total, 172 vehicles have been seized.
So far, out of that number, 163 cars have been re-assigned to the police and fire services.
