Polestar 2 updated with integrated YouTube app
More accurate Range Assistant and Apple CarPlay tweaks also feature in over-the-air update for Polestar EVPolestar has announced it will soon begin rolling out its 15th over-the-air (OTA) update for all existing Polestar 2 EVs that includes a new integrated YouTube app.
According to the Sino-Swedish brand, the new P2.9 OTA software update for the 2023 Polestar 2 will also introduce a revised Range Assistant app that’s claimed to provide more accurate driving range predictions.
Range Assistant allows the driver to monitor their energy consumption over the previous 20km, 40km or 100km with real-time information communicated to help the driver adjust their driving style for improved efficiency.
Thanks to new algorithms, the Polestar app is now also able to account for changes in environmental and other factors that impact on efficiency, providing a better forecast of just how far you can go before running out of juice.
Apple CarPlay connectivity also improves as part of the update, with the integration of an additional phone and extra media information on the home screen tile.
Handling of calls can now be used via the steering wheel, while Apple Maps can be displayed within the driver’s instrument panel.
It’s already been revealed that the heavily facelifted Polestar 2 will land Down Under in September this year.
As part of the significant upgrades, the electric fastback will score more powerful motors and new batteries that will increase range.
At the top of the line-up, the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor version will feature a new rear-biased drivetrain that pumps out an impressive 310kW and 740Nm of torque.
That’s enough for a 0-100km/h dash of just 4.2 seconds – 0.3sec quicker than before.
Despite its punchy performance, the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor will be able to cover up to 592km on a single charge, marking a 105km range improvement over the model it replaces thanks to a new front motor disconnect feature.
