Polestar 4 coupe pricing slashed across range

Polestar Australia has cut pricing across its MY27 Polestar 4 coupe range, aligning it with the recently announced Polestar 4 SUV. Effective from September 2, 2026, the move reduces prices by $4600 across the coupe line-up, giving buyers the choice between the sleek coupe-SUV and more practical SUV body styles at identical price points. The updated MY27 coupe also arrives with a revised chassis tune, updated trim structure and improved sustainability credentials.

The pricing revision follows the recent unveiling of the new Polestar 4 SUV, which swaps the coupe's distinctive rear-window-free design for a more conventional wagon-style body with a traditional rear screen.

Rather than asking customers to pay a premium for one body style over the other, Polestar has elected to position both versions identically. That means buyers can now choose between the style-led coupe and the more practical SUV purely on preference rather than price.

The MY27 Polestar 4 coupe also receives a suite of mechanical upgrades. Rear-motor and dual-motor variants feature a recalibrated chassis with high-capacity passive dampers, revised springs and anti-roll bars, polyurethane rebound stops, and updated steering calibration.

Polestar says the changes deliver improved steering precision and a more controlled ride, while enhancing both comfort and agility.

"The upgraded Polestar 4 coupé is better than ever, offering a more refined ride with enhanced driving pleasure, and stronger sustainability credentials," said Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller.

"Overall, the Polestar 4 coupé delivers an even more compelling package without compromise."

The Swedish EV brand has also revised the model's trim hierarchy, simplifying the range to rear motor, dual motor and dual motor with performance pack grades.

Alongside the driving updates, Polestar says the MY27 model arrives with a lower cradle-to-gate carbon footprint. Dual-motor versions now carry a certified footprint of 20.3 tonnes of CO2-equivalent, down 1.1 tonnes compared with launch, while Rear-motor variants are rated at 19.4 tonnes.

A range of option packs remains available. The $6500 Plus pack continues to bundle premium features including a Harman Kardon audio system, head-up display, Pixel LED headlights and power-reclining rear seats, while the $7200 Performance pack adds 22-inch alloy wheels, Polestar Engineered chassis tuning and Brembo brakes.

Standalone options include new 22kW AC charging capability for $900, an electrochromic glass roof ($2200), privacy glass ($700) and a power-retractable towbar ($4070). SUV buyers can also add a digital rear-view mirror for $1000.

The pricing realignment comes as Polestar expands its local line-up, with the new Polestar 4 SUV scheduled to arrive in Australia before the end of 2026.

For consumers, the decision removes any financial penalty for choosing one body style over the other, potentially broadening the appeal of the Polestar 4 range as buyers weigh the coupe's distinctive styling against the SUV's added practicality.

The move also continues Polestar's push to strengthen its position in Australia's growing premium EV segment ahead of the arrival of new-generation products including the Polestar 5 and next-generation Polestar 2.
