Polestar 4 locked in for world debut on April 18

The 2023 Polestar 4 will be unwrapped on April 18 at the Shanghai motor show in China and the Sino-Swedish EV-maker has released its first official teaser of the all-new mid-size electric SUV-coupe ahead of its global premiere.

Created to slot into the line-up between the Polestar 2 fastback and the upcoming Polestar 3 large SUV, which will rival the Tesla Model X, the Polestar 4 will be significantly smaller than the P3 and feature a lower, sleeker design.

From the teaser, we can also see it will come equipped with a pair of sharp slimline headlights and a sculptured bonnet, while a previous teaser also revealed the Polestar 4 will have a full-width rear LED lightbar and L-shaped tail-lights.

Beneath the skin, the Polestar 4 will share parent company Geely's all-new SEA architecture with cars like the Zeekr 001. That means both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive will be available and versions with the biggest batteries should cover more than 650km between top-ups.

The Polestar 4 flagship should also come with a mighty 400kW dual-motor AWD powertrain that should deliver a 0-100km/h acceleration time of less than 3.8 seconds.

Full details of the Polestar 4 will be released following its April 18 reveal, but the mid-size SUV has already been confirmed for Australian release.

Production is scheduled to begin before the end of the 2023, so we could see the Polestar 4 here by the middle of 2024.

Next on the list of Polestar models due for release will be the Polestar 5 grand tourer and then the Polestar 6 sports car.
