Lamborghini has given a special one-off Huracan to Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church.
Created by the Italian car-maker's bespoke division, Ad Personam, the rear-wheel drive Huracan isn't a replacement for the Pope's bulletproof Mercedes-Benz M-Class popemobile but a gift to help raise money for charity.
Painted in 'Bianco Moncerus' white, with 'Giallo Tiberino' highlights the inspiration for the one-off Huracan comes from the colours of the Vatican City's flag.
Standard beneath its special paint, the rear-wheel drive coupe is thought to be powered by the Huracan LP580-2's 426kW/540Nm 5.2-litre V10 that can haul the small Lambo to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and onto a claimed speed of 320km/h.
Accepting the gift himself, the Pope avoided the temptation to take 'his' Huracan for a quick blast around the Roman streets.
Instead, he signed its unique paint before blessing the V10 coupe during a short ceremony attended by Lamborghini dignitary.
The holy Huracan will now be placed safely in storage before being auctioned off by RM Sotheby's on May 12, 2018.
Expected to raise significantly more than the $378,900 (plus ORCs) Lamborghini charges for the Huracan Down Under, the proceeds will go to rebuilding an Iraqi Christian community's home and churches, providing support for women who are victim of trafficking, and two African charities who support women and children in need.
