The Finer Details

Porsche’s latest Sonderwunsch project blends automotive design with pop culture, translating three of Pixar’s most recognisable characters into bespoke versions of the iconic 911.

The Buzz Lightyear-inspired machine is based on a 911 GT3 RS, finished in white with green and purple accents reflecting the space ranger’s suit.

It features a large rear wing themed to match Buzz’s pop-out wings, along with bespoke “Lightyear” branded tyres and custom interior detailing with unique stitching and graphics.

Jessie the cowgirl is underpinned by a 911 Targa 4 GTS, finished in a newly developed white metallic paint designed to echo her pearl shirt buttons.

Contrasting blue, yellow and red detailing appears across the body, while a red Targa roof mimics her hat. Inside, denim-look upholstery and cowhide-pattern floor mats reinforce the western theme.

The Woody-inspired 911 Carrera T takes a subtler approach, with a custom blue finish designed to replicate the look of worn denim.

Brown vintage leather upholstery references Woody’s boots and accessories, while red graphics and check-pattern interior details round out the theme.

According to Porsche Cars North America CEO Timo Resch, the project combines childhood nostalgia with design creativity.

“Many of us – and our children – grew up watching the Toy Story films on the big screen,” he said, adding that the initiative is particularly meaningful given its charitable outcome.

Pixar representatives also highlighted the emotional connection behind the collaboration, noting the cars aim to bring the characters “to life on the road” while raising funds for a good cause.

All three vehicles will be sold as part of a broader fundraising effort supporting organisations including Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the American Red Cross and Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The Road Ahead

The one-of-one models highlight the growing role of Porsche’s Sonderwunsch division in delivering highly customised vehicles for special projects and collectors.

With the cars set to be auctioned for charity, their ultimate sale prices remain unknown, but their unique nature and cultural significance mean they’re likely to attract strong interest from collectors and fans alike.

The reveal also coincides with the upcoming release of Toy Story 5, which lands in cinemas on June 19, further tying the collaboration to the franchise’s next chapter.
