
The Turbo S is supposed to be the 911 you can live with. It’s dressed for a red-carpet arrival, fitted with an interior cloaked in high-end materials and aims to deliver a more serene driving experience compared to some of Porsche’s more hardcore products. The price tag renders it an experience reserved for high rollers, too. However, the new hybridised iteration is completely unhinged. As the non-GT halo, the Turbo S is ridiculously rapid in a straight line and will devour a twisty road like little else. Despite the 992.2 being touted a facelift, Porsche has revolutionised the experience.
Like a few of the sections to follow, this is largely irrelevant to the clientele trading in these circles. Nor will the fact it’s about $100,000 more expensive than the ‘half’ generation before it. Progress doesn’t come cheap.
The ‘dot two’ part of the 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S equation is working overtime given the powertrain has been transformed due to T-Hybrid.
Getting your backside behind the refreshingly round wheel now sets you back $577,300 (all prices exclude on-road costs). It’s the most expensive 911 currently on sale if you factor in the Cabriolet version. Opting for gale-force winds asks $598,000.

Admittedly, the closest rival could come from within Porsche’s own ranks, with the Carrera 4 GTS harnessing a lot of the Turbo S package for less. At $412,300 it’s somewhat more palatable.
The Turbo S is covered by Porsche’s three-year/unlimited warranty, while servicing is every 12 months or 15,000km. Although, sadly, few owners will reach that distance marker in the car’s lifespan rather than a year.
The Turbo S used to have an air of restraint, a package infused with understated cues to what lurks beneath. Not our test car, though. With its extended rear wing, football oval-shaped titanium tailpipes and myriad carbon-fibre aero addenda, it can’t slink through streets unnoticed.
Yet, with its Oak Green Metallic Neo exterior hue, two-tone Club leather interior and 20/21-inch Turbo Exclusive Design wheels, it still clutches onto luxury-car vibes. The Turbo S harnesses and an even wider wide-body stance, gains functional vertical slats that open for extra cooling and active aero to increase downforce at speed.
Exclusive Turbonite accents now highlight the Turbo nomenclature, too.

Your $577k buys HD-Matrix LED headlights, LED taillights with light bar, 18-way electrically adjustable seats with lumbar and memory functions, seat and steering-wheel heating, dual-zone climate control and proximity-based keyless entry and push-button start.
The Turbo S is also stacked with mechanical tech beyond its T-Hybrid powertrain. Benefiting from the 400-volt architecture is the new active electrohydraulic roll stabilisation system (ehPDCC) and the front nose lift.
This combines with the inclusion of Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) which manipulates the dampers and spring rates as well as lowering the ride height 10mm. Rear-axle steering is part of the deal, too, while the all-wheel drive layout benefits from Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus).
Making sure the huge speeds can be arrested are dinner-plate sized Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) – 420mm discs and 10-piston calipers up front, 410mm discs and four-piston calipers at the back. The staggered wheels are wrapped in grippy Pirelli P Zero R tyres (255/35 ZR20 front; 325/30 ZR21 rear).



However, our test car is far from standard. In fact, the list price leaps to $683,880 as tested.
There’s too much to detail, but some of the heavy-hitting kit includes the carbon-fibre bladed wheels in Turbonite ($8520), green exterior hue ($7870), tan interior ($8060), Sport Design package 911 Turbo Carbon ($18,770) and a carbon-fibre roof ($7470).
Items that shouldn’t cost extra given the asking price are the front-axle lift system ($4950), ventilated front seats ($2200), InnoDrive adaptive cruise control ($2190) and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes ($1720). Even the 50 per-cent lighter carbon-fibre wiper arms are $2620.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have made their way into the 911 experience, but thankfully Porsche has implemented a painless workaround.
Like its brethren, the 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S has a kill switch – otherwise branded as ASSIST – to switch off all the annoying active safety tech that would otherwise hinder a whelming drive. Once activated, and you must do it with each engine start, the speed, attention and fatigue warnings are gone.
Other kit like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, basic adaptive cruise control, lane detection and keeping assist, parking sensors, a 360-degree view monitor and park assist are standard. The only notable absence is cross traffic alert.
The Turbo S doesn’t have an ANCAP safety rating, but the cabin is fitted with six airbags.

Proving the 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S isn’t just for the high street is the standard fitment of the Sport Chrono Package. It incorporates the Track Precision App which allows you to record and analyse driving data, lap times and other performance metrics on your smartphone.
Screens abound, with a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster ahead of the driver, cancelling out the wonderful physical tachometer of old. The central infotainment screen is small by modern standards at 10.9 inches, but it employs fast processing speeds via a revised operating system.
Of course, you can connect to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with the ability to access digital assistants and apps like Spotify and YouTube thanks to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM). A wireless charging pad, DAB+ digital radio and native satnav that also remembers locations for the nose lift are standard.

Over-the-air (OTA) updates can be delivered to the Turbo S and it comes with a complimentary 10-year subscription to Porsche Connect for connected services. The distinctive analogue stopwatch dial mounted front and centre within the dash wonderfully juxtaposes the now tech-heavy cabin.
The standard Bose sound system is hardly underdone, so opting for the 13-speaker, 855-watt Burmester premium audio is a case of diminishing returns, especially when combating road noise and the soundtrack already emanating from behind your ears.

The 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S is the most powerful production 911 in the brand’s history. The smart cookies at Zuffenhausen redeveloped the powertrain with T-Hybrid to generate a colossal 523kW and 800Nm.
With launch control and 20-second Sport Response Button activated, the Turbo S catapults to 100km/h from rest in 2.5 seconds. And it’ll go on to smash through the 200km/h barrier in 8.4sec and top out at 322km/h.
That’s hypercar numbers. And it feels even quicker from the driver’s seat as you’re being imprinted into the backrest. It’s easy to believe there might be some underquoting of power and acceleration figures. In the Turbo S you need to plan your throttle inputs ahead of time.

How does it do it? Well, the famed flat-six has decreased in capacity to 3.6-litres, but twin eTurbos have been added for effectively lag-free boost. A small electric motor sits within the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and feeds off a water-cooled 400-volt, 1.9kWh lithium-ion battery.
The latter is a small unit and only weighs about 27kg – T-Hybrid is about performance more than efficiency. Interestingly, there are no blow-off valves or wastegates, with the eTurbos' recovered electrical energy channelled to either the high voltage battery or directly into the e-motor.

If there must be a negative, it’s the acoustics. OK, there’s still an enticing soundtrack, but the three-way catalytic converters and particulate filters have, in some part, neutered the aural experience. A guttural, bassy tone is missing – something the turbocharged 991 GT2 RS has in spades.
The caveat being when you activate launch control. Sitting static with the brake and accelerator mashed, you can hear the eTurbos spooling right behind you as if it's mission control preparing for take-off. It’s addictive.
This seems like the most frivolous consideration given the price and performance. However, the 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S is a hybrid after all, so there should be some semblance of efficiency, right?
At least there is on paper, with the brand’s official claim coming in at 11.8L/100km.
Driving with intent quickly sees that number double to become a pipe dream, one that involves plenty of servo stops with a 63-litre tank. Naturally, it requires 98-octane premium unleaded.

Through six days and some 750km of testing, our average clocks 15.2L/100km.
While you can’t drive on EV power alone, thanks to regenerative braking, you never need to plug it in to charge.
It comes as no surprise that the 992.2 generation 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S is a full 14 seconds faster than its predecessor around the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife (with a time of 7:03.92).
That feat is important given the bumpy, challenging surface of ‘The Green Hell’ is, technically, a public road masquerading as a racetrack. Therefore, slashing a chunk of time off its previous marker is impressive given the 85kg weight increase.
There’s a lot at play to make it possible.
The rear-axle steering is well tuned, aiding rotation at low speeds and stability as it increases – even the quick-ratio electronic power steering provides natural weight and feel. Placing the T-Hybrid’s battery up front helps distribute mass within the rear-engine platform, too and the Turbo S changes direction incisively.

It simply goes where you want it to, no matter the weather. On test we experienced some very damp conditions (mixed in with plenty of dry roads) and the Turbo S is unflappable in any scenario – especially with the new Wet driving mode. It seems its do-it-all reputation stacks up.
The suspension compliance doesn’t just afford a comfortable ride; it makes the Turbo S a devastatingly fast road car. The ehPDCC system actively soaks up all the lumps and bumps on the move to add confidence. And given how it breathes with the road as a result, the body is settled.
The oversized Pirelli tyres are always forming a solid contact patch, meaning both axles enjoy plenty of purchase. You can apply throttle early on corner exit and the Turbo S grips and takes off without concern. To push past those limits you’d need to be on a racetrack.

Heck, even flirting with its soaring boundaries isn’t really possible on public roads. However, it isn’t a package devoid of fun or character. And it’s unsurprising to discover that with a little provocation and the electronic nannies reduced, 523kW/800Nm can unstick 325-section Pirellis at working temperature.
It’s in these moments, with Sport or Sport Plus activated, that the Turbo S is the most exciting. It requires your full attention, and it demands to be driven properly. No, it isn’t quite the ‘Widowmaker’ mentality from the 930 Turbo of old, but being able to choose your own experience and level of ESC intervention via the driving modes is appreciated.
At times, there’s a slight sense that the Turbo S is too clever for its own good, with the constantly calculating ehPDCC and electronic trickery gnawing away at the levels of feedback. It’s dangerously close to being more a feat of engineering than it is an enamouring experience.
However, it’s hard not to be taken aback by the ruthlessly effective way the Turbo S devours tarmac and it’s far more approachable behind the wheel than it has any right to be. It’ll flatter most drivers, irrespective of their talent.

The 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S has the advantage of an alter ego.
We’ll get to the luxurious cabin but move away from the warp-speed mentality and the Turbo S is very easy to live with. Vision out is clear, there are myriad cameras/sensors to assist with parking, and the ride quality is far removed from the stiff stance you might expect.
And once you tone down the drive modes to Normal, the throttle response is far more calming and relaxed. Which is a positive sign, one that pairs well with the cowhide-filled cabin and comfortable, powered front seats.

Even the front-axle lift has a GPS-guided memory. It activates faster than before, rising 40mm to make low-speed obstacles rivals would fall foul of a non-event. Getting in and out of the cabin is made easy by a lack of bucket-style racing seats with heavy bolstering, but there’s also enough support for a range of driving styles.
Porsche also continues to nail the driving position, too.
Perceived build quality is high, the aesthetic is pleasing and the ergonomics are generally sound. The presence of physical switchgear for things like the climate control is welcome, while storage isn’t a strong suit, even for a two-door coupe.

Although, there are points where the Turbo S can’t live up to the luxe brief. There’s too much road noise and while hearing mechanical sounds is ideal in a racy version, it can grate on a long journey. You’re always aware of the surface underneath by ear.
Proving its pragmatism are the 261-litre boot and 128L frunk, which are more useful than their respective capacities suggest. And there’s always the back seat if you need more room for a Louis Vuitton tote bag because adult-sized bodies don’t really fit comfortably.
Reputations can sometimes be unfairly placed, and for the 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S, it has a hard one to shake. Despite its monstrous power, because of its pragmatic and luxurious bent, the range-topping 911 is rarely viewed as the one to have for driving enthusiasts.
The 992.2 generation changes that perception. Porsche has managed to redefine the Turbo S’s performance and dynamics into another stratosphere without encroaching too much on its all-round useability.
If you’re quibbling on price and asking if you ‘need’ the extra grunt over the GTS, then you’re probably not a Turbo S customer. No one requires the amount of power it can deploy, more it comes with the territory of the halo 911.
Status is real and the Turbo S remains the big dog.
