Porsche Classic has revealed it plans to celebrate two decades of the Porsche Cayenne with new options and decals for owners of its first-generation SUV.
Originally launched back in 2002, the Cayenne notched up one million cumulative sales last year and is on track to become the best-selling Porsche of all time. It's currently outselling the 911 two to one in most markets.
Attributed by many as the car that saved the German car-maker, the Cayenne is now in its third generation, but the new Hunt, Adventure and Rallye styling kits have all been developed for the very first iteration.
For now, the decal set is not available to buy but previews what's likely to be offered through the Porsche's accessories catalogue.
Among the new features are rally-ready rims, larger all-terrain tyres, mud flaps, a bash plate, heavy-duty roof racks and a rear wheel carrier.
The decals are claimed to have been inspired by famous Porsche racers that competed in the legendary Dakar rally, like the famous Rothmans-backed 953 that competed in (and won) the 1984 Paris-Dakar and the subsequent 959s that followed and dominated Dakar.
Porsche Classic says it is currently testing new original accessories for the first-gen Cayenne and expects to have them on sale soon.
Commenting on the new celebratory packs, Porsche Classic product boss Eduard Reichert said: "This car has real character.
"We have seen what owners have already been doing to their vehicles, when it comes to roof tents, extra lights and all-terrain tyres, for example. We will be offering customers the chance to equip their cars in a very unique way."
As well as celebrating two decades of the Cayenne, Porsche Classic has also announced it will offer a new Manthey Racing pack for its Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
The upgrades include coil-over suspension, brake components, aero parts and magnesium wheels to enable owners to match the 911 GT2 that set the Nurburgring lap record last year.
An all-new infotainment system for the first-gen Cayenne, Cayman, and 911 have also been released.
