Porsche Australia is providing advice to future drivers, trackside at this weekend's F1 Grand Prix. Children aged between five and ten are invited to take a lesson in basic road rules and safe driving from qualified instructors, then put theory to the road on a small-scale track in 911 pedal cars.
The programme was included in Porsche's activities at last year's Australian Grand Prix with a round of the Carrera Cup. The one-make race series has returned as one of the support categories this year, along with the Porsche Kids Driving School which is "bigger and better" with the support of "key Porsche partner", Michelin.
"Basic road rules and safe driving can be taught at an early age when children's minds are receptive to the concept of right and wrong," says Porsche Cars Australia Director of Marketing and Motorsport, Kevin Nicholls.
Parents and guardians can sign-up on behalf of their keen peddlers in the Kids Zone at Albert Park. Six sessions, taking 40 minutes, are available each day and upon completion children will receive a Certificate of Participation and Porsche Kids Driving School Licence.
