Porsche Macan T revealed

Mid-2022 Aussie launch and pricing locked in for Touring version of Porsche’s sporty mid-size SUV

Porsche Cars Australia is expanding its SUV line-up with the new Porsche Macan T (for ‘Touring’), which combines a more aggressive chassis set-up with the entry-level 2.0-litre turbocharged engine.

First deliveries are expected mid-year for the 2022 Porsche Macan T, which is priced from $91,500 plus on-road costs.

It slots into the range above the entry-level Macan (from $84,800) with which it shares its 195kW/400Nm four-cylinder engine, but below the six-cylinder Macan S (from $105,800).

As usual, the engine is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, enabling a 6.2-second sprint from 0-100km/h thanks to all-wheel drive and the standard Sport Chrono Package.

Justifying the extra outlay over the base Macan is a sportier chassis tune derived from the one found on the flagship Porsche Macan GTS (from $129,800), which sees the ride height dropped by 15mm, the installation of stiffer front anti-roll bars and inclusion of adaptive dampers as standard.

The standard ‘Porsche Traction Management’ system has also been tweaked to have a stronger rear bias and allow a little more slip before stepping in to tidy things up.

This sportier nature is reflected in the Macan T’s styling with contrasting ‘Agate Grey Metallic’ trim elements and badging adorning the body, subtly complemented by the black window line, sports exhaust tips and darkened 20-inch alloys pinched off the Macan S.

Inside, there’s heated eight-way power-adjustable sports front seats upholstered in black leather, a GT-spec heated steering wheel, Sport Chrono stopwatch and a 10.9-inch infotainment interface.

Australian-spec cars will also feature a 75-litre fuel tank, rear privacy glass, auto-dimming mirrors, keyless entry/start, an 18-inch collapsible spare wheel, digital radio, Apple CarPlay, Driver Memory Package and piano black interior package.

“The letter T has represented a unique form of dynamic driving at Porsche since the 1960s,” a Porsche spokesperson said.

“It stands for ‘Touring’ and identifies models that offer an especially authentic driving experience thanks to precise tuning, exclusive equipment and efficient engines.”
