Porsche is reportedly readying a wagon-ised version of its four-door Panamera for the Paris motor show, with the new model addition allegedly part of company boss Matthias Muller’s plan to grow the brand’s sales to more than 200,000 units by the middle of the decade.
The new Panamera derivative is believed to offer more interior room and will boast luggage space that far exceeds the 445-litre capacity of the donor car.
However, even if the mooted Panamera estate gets the green light, the showroom-ready article won’t materialise until 2016, taking the fight to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake.
Meanwhile, the aftermarket tuning mobs have kept themselves busy by tweaking the standard Panamera to offer more in the go and show department (although we’ll leave it up to you to decide whether they’ve succeeded on the latter front).
Pictured alongside is the Hamann-Motorsport Cyrano, named after the French fictional character renowned for his oversize schnoz.
It’s billed as a “super sports car”, and the claim isn’t without substance as outputs of 443kW and 870Nm (on tap from 2250-4500rpm) endow it with electrifying performance.
How does 0-100km/h in 3.9sec sound? Or 0-200km/h in 12.6sec?
However, it doesn’t end there, as ticking the box for the optional Sport Chrono Package trims the Cyrano’s 0-100km/h sprint to 3.7sec and 0-200km/h to 12.4sec.
Meanwhile, top speed increases to an impressive 315km/h, comfortably trumping the standard Panamera Turbo (303km/h) and Turbo S (306km/h).
In order to meet its visual requirements and aerodynamic criteria, the Hamann engineers revamped the Panamera’s face, with the aggressive bumper/spoiler assembly housing enlarged air intakes to provide adequate cooling for the engine and brakes.
Airflow is further optimised by the vented bonnet, which sits between 60mm wider front fenders. The rear fenders are also widened by the same amount, endowing the Cyrano with a hulking stance.
Hamann claims the side skirts also play their part in smoothing airflow, as well as making the Cyrano appear glued to the tarmac. It’s not purely an illusion as bespoke air suspension lowers ride height by 30mm. Keeping the car in contact with terra firma is a set of black 22-inch rims shod with 265/30 ZR 22 tyres at the front and 305/25 ZR 22 gumballs at the rear.
Out back sits a huge iron-board-sized rear spoiler and a special diffuser rear apron, and protruding from the latter is a pair of oversize trapezoidal exhaust pipes.
As for the interior, Hamann has attempted to turn the cabin into a “Five-Star VIP Lounge”, lathered in the finest leathers, along with personalised foot mats and aluminium pedals that allegedly embody the highest degree of craftsmanship and precision.
No word on pricing, but all this is hardly likely to come cheap...
