Porsche still pondering new model
Volkswagen-based sub-Boxster offering back on the agendaIt in a bid to boost falling sales, Porsche is continuing to evaluate a new entry-level model to slide in underneath the Boxster. And it could be based on a Volkswagen.
New Porsche owners Volkswagen have dropped plenty of hints that an addition to the bottom-end of the model range is a priority. Back in August we brought you a report from VW CEO Martin Winterkorn admitting the long-rumoured Porsche hatch could become a reality.
When Volkswagen unveiled the Project BlueSport Concept at Detroit earlier this year there were reports that in order to get it into production, VW would require Audi and Porsche to share the platform. Porsche publically put the kybosh on that plan not long afterwards.
It would appear that with the recent change of ownership the prospect of a Porsche-VW joint-venture could be back on the starting blocks. It adds weight to recent reports that BlueSport mules have been spotted in Europe disguised underneath Golf bodywork.
