A multi-franchise dealer will open Melbourne's second Porsche dealership early next month. The dealer is the Preston Motors Group, the latest company to take on a franchise from the prestigious German sports car importer.
Located at 855 Nepean Highway, slap-bang in the middle of Porsche central, -- Melbourne's southern suburb of Brighton -- the new venue comprises a 2000m² premises which will handle retail sales of new and used cars, plus vehicle servicing. The owners intend to open the new dealership with effect from March 12.
"Our customers are loyal and passionate and expect the highest levels of service," says Michael Winkler, MD of Porsche Cars Australia.
"Porsche Centre Brighton's location on the Nepean Highway is in the prime automotive retail precinct for south-east metropolitan Melbourne."
Winkler paid tribute to the operators of the new Porsche dealership, describing the Preston Motors Group as "a great partner".
"They have the experience, strength and right people to move forward with us," he concluded.
For their part, the operators of the new dealership will be trusting that the Porsche franchise is a calculated gamble, based on the success of the marque with the non-traditional Porsche product, the Cayenne. Nor does the German manufacturer plan to leave its product portfolio at just sports cars and SUVs.
Despite the global downturn in automotive industry sales, affecting even sales in Australia, Porsche is banking on the introduction of the Panamera sedan this year (pictured) to boost both the company's global and local fortunes -- and the new dealership is timed and placed to take advantage of that.
