Mercedes-Benz Australia is now taking orders for the new CLS 63 AMG 'S' model, prior to its local retail launch in October.
Sharing its 430kW engine with the E 63 (and S 63), the hot-shoe CLS will be available in either body style – 'coupe' or 'Shooting Brake'. That's sedan or wagon to those who don't work for Benz... “The new CLS 63 AMG ‘S’ Coupé and Shooting Brake models represent an exciting new variant for the highly successful CLS range” said Horst Von Sanden, MD for Mercedes-Benz Cars Australia. “The CLS 63 AMG ‘S’ delivers not only cutting-edge design and safety technologies, but also an exhilarating driving experience.”
Priced at $262,645 for the 'Coupe' or $265,145 for the 'Shooting Brake', the CLS 63 AMG 'S' can reach 100km/h from a standing start in 4.1 seconds (4.2 for the Shooting Brake), courtesy of the 430kW and 800Nm output punched out by the new model's 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8. Top speed is limited to 250km/h, although an optional driver's package raises that limit to 300km/h. Despite the potent performance on tap, the CLS 63 with the uprated 'S' engine can achieve 10.0L/100km (10.3 for the Shooting Brake).
Standard equipment for Australia will include: 19-inch alloys, AMG sports seats, AMG sports exhaust, body kit, Thermotronic climate control and the Harmann Kardon Logic 7 audio system. Safety features also available as standard will include: Distronic Plus, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Pre-Safe Brake and Brake Assist BAS PLUS.
