Premiere Edition Corvette on the slipway
Chevrolet's collectible Corvette Stingray Convertible is due in 2014, with production limited to 550 unitsChevrolet in the US has opened up the order books for the Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition Convertible, priced from US $77,450.
Based on the flagship 3LT models, the Premiere Edition Corvette Convertible offers just one colour scheme, Lime Rock Green, with Brownstone suede interior. Other features to set the Premiere Edition apart from lesser Corvettes include carbon-fibre accents, variable-tuned exhaust system, Z51 Performance Package option and Magnetic Selective Ride Control. Unique alloy wheels feature the Stingray logo on the centre caps, with the logo also appearing on the door sill plates.
Chevrolet dealers will supply the limited edition Corvette with a five-piece set of Thule luggage, featuring exclusive Corvette branding. The cars are also equipped with unique build plaques fitted to the dash.
Deliveries of the limited edition soft-top sports car will commence from early next year, according to the manufacturer, and since production will be limited to 550 units, it stands a strong chance of being collectible – and snapped up quickly.
But not by Australians. The last we heard, Corvette remains off-limits for right-hook countries, as we reported at the beginning of this year.
About the best we can hope for is one of the local aftermarket conversion companies undertaking to bring the Premiere Edition here.
