Preview: carsales Melbourne EV Show

Full rundown on what’s on display and what else there is to see and do this weekend

The inaugural carsales Melbourne EV Show is just about upon us and if you want to keep abreast of this fast-moving automotive movement there will be dozens of the latest electric vehicles on display alongside myriad industry and interactive tech displays over three days from tomorrow (Friday, September 22).

Held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre until Sunday, the EV show will be headlined by displays from high-end brands like Audi, McLaren, Polestar, Lexus and Abarth, as well as mainstream brands like Hyundai, Kia, GWM, Cupra, Fiat and Peugeot.

Most of those brands will have at least one new electric model on display, while others including Hyundai and Peugeot will exhibit nearly every electrified model in their respective portfolios, including the ground-breaking new Hyundai IONIQ 5 N.

Other star attractions will include the McLaren Artura, Audi RS e-tron GT, Polestar 3, Kia EV9 GT-Line and Abarth 500e, several of which will be making their Australian debuts, as well as Formula E cars and a dedicated display from the Tesla Owners Club of Australia.

carsales understands there’ll also be a series of key announcements from certain manufacturers regarding future EV products for our market, and there’ll be plenty more than just cars.

Myriad key players in the electric mobility infrastructure and new energy sectors including Chargefox, Jet Charge, BP Pulse, Get Electric, T-Power, NRMA, RACV and AGL will be present, as will a host of electrified motorcycle, scooter and skateboard providers.

Throughout the weekend there’ll be a series of presentations, panels, addresses and showcases from various industry experts including carsales’ very own Scott Newman, Feann Torr, Nadine Armstrong, Greg Rust and Toby Hagon, as well as some from EV manufacturers and energy firms.

With EVs becoming increasingly popular and appealing, this is the perfect opportunity to look into the future and see where the industry’s heading while rubbing shoulders with all the industry experts could ever need under one roof.
