Monarchists rejoice! A chunk of high-performance history is now on sale in the UK in the form of a pristine 2017 Audi RS 6 Avant, which was allegedly owned by a prince of the United Kingdom.
Priced at around $130,000, or 72,000 quid, it’s significantly cheaper than former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd’s 2007 Toyota Prius that was listed on Carsales for a cool $1 million.
Indeed, the 4.0-litre twin-turbo all-wheel drive beast is advertised as “Prince Harry’s old car” on a UK classified ad site, and although there’s no way to check its provenance (this side of a DNA swab test of the steering wheel), the ginger prince has shown a liking to German culture in the past.
Despite an asking price that’s significantly less than the then-new price of an 2017 Audi RS 6 in Australia (roughly $250,000), the 280km/h super-wagon appears to be in very good condition. That means Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will probably be getting around in a Range Rover from now on.
Blessed with an immaculate interior and exterior, the 445kW/700Nm weapon has just 4400 miles on the clock, or about 7000km. Depreciation is killer!
The regal chariot has been pimped out with loads of extras too, including night visions and dynamic ride control, the latter no doubt chosen for the odd time that Prince Harry ferried around Madge – her Royal Majesty the Queen – and didn’t want her jostled about on crumbly Westminster roads.
The British Royal family is not short of cash and has had some rather tasty machinery in its stables, including pretty much every top-shelf British car you can think of from Land Rover, Aston Martin, Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
Is that the reason for the bargain-basement price? Or should the seller (a dealership in Derby) be asking for more -- perhaps a Kevin 07-like $1 million?
