Price rise for updated Lexus RC

Suspension tweaked and equipment enhanced for facelifted prestige coupe

New alloy wheels are the principal tell-tale that the Lexus RC coupe has been lightly revised for the new model year.

The running changes for the prestige coupe include new bumpers, LED headlights, grille, external mirrors from the LC model and the restyled alloy wheels (18-inch for RC Luxury and a 10-spoke design for the 19-inch F Sport alloys).

Underneath, the Lexus RC coupe has also been firmed up, with new dampers and suspension bushings that the manufacturer claims produce tauter handling and suppler ride comfort.

In addition, Luxury trim levels for the Lexus RC 300 (2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder) and RC 350 (3.5-litre V6) models now feature as standard blind-spot monitoring/lane-change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, rain-sensing wipers, cornering lights and electro-chromatic (auto-dipping) function for the external mirrors, which now display through a wider angle.

Higher 'knee pads' are specified for the cabin, either side of the centre console/fascia, and the analogue clock from the LC is new to the Lexus RC. Heater and audio control panels are finished in a new, brushed-look material.

The flagship F Sport grade gains auto high-beam for the triple-LED headlights and 'Naguri' aluminium highlights for the interior.

Sparkling Meteor (blue) is added to the six carry-over exterior colours for the Luxury models. The F Sport variants can be ordered in nine different colours, four of which are exclusive.

Four interior trim colours for the RC Luxury variants include two new choices – ochre and dark rose. For the RC F Sport, three new colours (out of four) are Flare Red, Black/Tuscan Sun and White.

"The latest RC Line's sporty appearance and versatile driving character have been inspired by our flagship LC coupe, consolidating its position as an outstanding premium luxury coupe in the market," said Lexus Australia chief executive, Scott Thompson.

Prices have risen for the RC range, as follows:
RC 300 Luxury – $66,174 (+$845)
RC 300 F Sport – $74,529 (+200)
RC 350 Luxury – $69,874 (+1845)
RC 350 F Sport – $77,529 (+$200)
