Prices up for MY23 Subaru BRZ – and other models

More Subaru BRZs here by September and there’s no allocation cap this time around

More stocks of the new Subaru BRZ are on the way, with Subaru Australia officially opening its order books for the MY23 version of the new rear-drive sports coupe today, ahead of first deliveries in the third quarter of the year.

But while the Subaru BRZ line-up and specifications haven’t changed for the 2023 model year, pricing has. Subaru Australia has bumped up the prices of the base BRZs by $1300, with the better-equipped BRZ S now $1400 more expensive.

The increases mean the BRZ is no longer a sub-$40,000 proposition in any form, with the range now kicking off from $40,290 plus on-road costs for the base BRZ manual and the BRZ S costing $1300 more at $41,590 plus ORCs.

As before, automatic BRZs command a $3800 premium over the manuals.

It’s not all bad news though; Subaru Australia has confirmed to carsales there’s no cap on the MY23 allocation – at this stage – meaning more prospective buyers can get their hands on the second-generation rear-drive sports car.

Managing director Blair Read said the brand was “delighted” more fans would be able to purchase a new BRZ.

“The new generation BRZ is truly an incredibly nimble sports coupe that is designed and engineered for optimum performance and able to punch well above its weight,” he said.

While it may be the only rear-drive model in the Subaru range, the BRZ isn’t the only model to receive a price increase this week, with Subaru also revealing prices of the MY22 Subaru Impreza, Subaru XV and Subaru Outback have all risen by $800.

This latest increase comes on top of the recent $400-$500 hikes forced on the Impreza and XV ranges just last month, meaning both of Subaru’s most affordable models are now $1100 or $1200 more expensive than this time last month (depending on the variant), with things made worse by the axing of entry-level 2.0i grades.

Subaru predictably stands by the changes made both last month and this week, stating that “delivering an exceptional customer experience is” its “priority and all alternatives are explored before any carefully considered price adjustments are implemented”.
