The importer has announced pricing and full specification details for the 2020 Mercedes-Benz V-Class, which now offers standard Active Brake Assist for both variants.
An autonomous emergency braking system, Active Brake Assist will activate automatically if there's any danger the vehicle will collide with an obstacle in front and can also detect pedestrians crossing the path of the V-Class. As the name suggests, the system will also apply greater braking effort if the driver's pedal pressure is deemed inadequate.
In addition, 'Highbeam Assist Plus' is standard for the range-topping V 250 d Avantgarde and optional for the V 220 d at entry level. This system will vary the output from the headlights to reduce glare for drivers of on-coming vehicles, without leaving the V-Class driver in the dark.
Mercedes-Benz is offering three new metallic colour options: Graphite Grey, Selenite Grey and Hyazinth Red. The V 220 d scores a new design of 17-inch alloy wheel, and the V 250 d also runs on new alloys, measuring 18 inches in diameter. Inside, both variants feature new air vents and hard-surface trim materials are new – gloss black for the V 220 d and a 'double-stripe' finish for the V 250 d.
Options include Tartufo leather and luxury seats that recline fully and provide massage and 'climatisation' functions.
Mechanically unchanged, the revised V-Class can be identified by a new bumper and redesigned grille and air intake in the front apron. Both the grille and air intake feature cross-hatched inserts. The 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel is matched to a seven-speed automatic transmission and produces 120kW/380Nm (V 220 d) and 140kW/440Nm (V 250 d).
Pricing for the updated V-Class has held steady since minor reductions in April of this year. For the V 220 d the price is $79,627 and the V 250 d Avantgarde is priced at $93,799.
