A prized Subaru Brumby will be auctioned later this month to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis NSW.
A regular on Australian foodie program River Cottage, the white, 1992 model will go under the hammer in an online-only auction commencing March 14 at 12pm, and concluding March 16 at 7pm.
Fully registered and said to be looking for a loving home, the popular all-wheel drive utility is described as “bearing battle scars, nicks and scrapes commensurate with its age”. It has 313,109 kilometres showing on the odometer, and is represents one of the final iterations before the Brumby was culled for good in 1994.
“The river Cottage Brumby has been used by host Paul West and his family in several seasons of the show as a work horse on the southern NSW property that hosts the lifestyle and food favourite,” an advertisement for the auction reads.
Subaru Brumby values have held steady in recent years, thanks to the car’s combination of quirky looks, all-wheel drive grip and inherent practicality.
In 1992, the same model Brumby retailed for $15,517 plus on-road costs. The latest Redbook data suggests a valuation between $2000 to $4500, however clean examples are known to go for much more than this.
Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis NSW.
