The Jaguar Type 00 concept certainly kicked up a storm – within a bigger storm – when it debuted last year, and Jaguar has made it very clear it’s not messing around as camouflaged prototypes have been spotted testing on public roads.
Predictably it hasn’t taken long for the speculative renders to emerge and one of the more convincing sets comes from talent and usually on-the-money digital creator Theottle who’s blended elements of the original concept and masked test vehicles.
As per the concept, the rendered Type 00 is massive while the presence of four doors instead of two aligns with the spy imagery out of the Arctic Circle last month.
You’d never guess it, but the canvas for Theottle’s creation was a last-generation Saab 9-5, albeit with a massively stretched wheelbase, roofline, doors, bonnet, front wings and altered window lines.
The finished product looks like the love child of a Rolls-Royce Phantom and a block of cheese, though we have to say it looks a whole lot more palatable than the original coupe concept – though perhaps that’s just the colour.
Unsurprisingly there are a lot of elements that have been toned down compared to the concept, the most obvious being the front and rear aprons, especially the latter which now dons much more traditional tail-light clusters and no violent slashes across the bumper or tailgate.

Jaguar as spoken for a while now its electric rebirth would see it move upmarket and challenge the likes of Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach in the upper reaches of the prestige market.
The production-spec Type 00 will thereby be full of premium, prestige and – sustainably sourced – exotic materials, new-generation technology and a mountain of power from a multi-motor powertrain.
Details are very few and far between right now but just as the brand cause a tsunami of controversy with its global rebranding, social media presence and advertising, we’re sure there’ll be plenty of publicity for the Type 00 as we build toward its global debut at the end of the year.
