Pure-electric Hyundai Mistra makes debut in China
Electric version of mid-size sedan gets decent 520km range; also offered with two petrol turbosHyundai has unveiled an all-new pure-electric mid-size sedan, the Hyundai Mistra, at the Guangzhou motor show in China, offering a driving range of 520km.
Created specifically for Chinese buyers, the Mistra bridges the gap between the Elantra and the Sonata in Hyundai's Chinese line-up.
Measuring in at 4780mm long, 1815mm wide and standing 1460mm tall, the Hyundai Mistra is a natural rival to the Volkswagen Passat.
To help the Mistra compete, the Korean car-maker says its latest sedan beats all its rivals for space and comes with class-leading new tech.
The latter includes twin 12.3-inch digital screens for its infotainment system and instrument cluster, plus the car-maker's latest semi-autonomous driving aids.
Its distinctive styling has new boomerang-shaped LED running lights and ultra-slim headlights, picking up where the recently revealed i30 sedan left off.
Powered by a 135kW/310Nm electric motor with 56.5kWh lithium-ion battery, the electric version of the Hyundai Mistra can cover up to 520km between charges.
Hyundai also claims it can be recharged from 30 to 80 per cent in 40 minutes using a fast charger.
The Mistra is also offered with two turbo-petrol engine options: a 105kW/176Nm 1.8-litre and 125kW/253Nm 1.5-litre.
